ABOUT ME
I am a retired litigator who provides occasional consulting services, typically involving federal litigation of complex commercial disputes.
Experience: My practice was long devoted to legal writing and analysis for major motions and appeals—including working with clients and co-counsel to organize and simplify complex issues, so busy generalist judges might reach the right result. Over the years, and to that end, I briefed and argued a wide range of procedural and substantive issues in courts across the country—from motions to dismiss in trial courts, to merits briefs in the Supreme Court, and most points between. I have also presented oral argument in five federal appellate courts, including one sitting en banc.
Background: I grew up in metro Detroit, attended college in New York City, spent 15 years in Chicago—as law student, clerk, and appellate litigator—before moving to the Pacific Northwest in 2015.
Admissions: Oregon, Illinois (inactive), SCOTUS, CA2, CA4, CA5, CA7, CA8, CA9, CA10, CADC, CAFC, C.D. Ill., N.D. Ill., D. Or.
